HOKUSAI MUSEUM OPEN November 22 , 2016 北斎美術館オープン

■The Sumida Hokusai Museum
Katsushika Hokusai, one of the most famous of all Japanese artists, was born in 1760 in Honjo Warigesui, now known as Hokusai Dōri Street in the Kamezawa area of Tokyo’s Sumida City. He lived to the ripe old age of 90. In his long life he produced numerous masterpieces, and he spent much of it in Sumida.
To celebrate and honor this local artist, and to promote the distinctive culture of his hometown to Japan and the world, Sumida City has decided to open a museum dedicated to Hokusai.
The museum will be built within Midori-chō Park (2-7 Kamezawa, Sumida-ku, Tokyo), which sits 400 meters east of the Toei Oedo Subway Line’s Ryogoku Station. The park is of special significance to Hokusai’s art: it was once the site of a mansion belonging to a feudal lord who commissioned a painting of a horse on a folding screen from Hokusai.
In addition to introducing visitors to the works of Hokusai and his disciples, the museum will also hold various exhibitions and events that highlight Hokusai’s ties to Sumida.

京都の日常。
Filmed over a week in Kyoto and its surrounding areas. I've been to Kyoto many times before and always wanted to capture the beauty of its atmosphere. The place has an mysterious feeling, with ancient temples and tranquil forests.
Scenes include the Golden Pavilion Temple, Fushimi Inari, Kiyomizu Temple, Gion, Ryoanji, Todaiji, and Arashiyama. We also made trips out to nearby Osaka, Nara, and Koyasan. Especially in the winter, the snow was beautiful in the Mount Koya world-heritage.

BONSAI ■Grown up condition (10～100 years old) 五葉松の成長
五葉松の成長（10～100年）を見ることができます。
１０年では未だ小さな鉢植えですが、１２年、１７年・・と時を経て、
９０年、１００年になると立派な盆栽になります。
時間と共に姿を変える盆栽は
命ある芸術品であると実感されられます。

BONSAI "Jin & Shari" 盆栽 神と舎利
神（ジン）、舎利（シャリ）
幹や枝の木質部が朽ち果て、白骨化したもの。
松柏類に多く、特に真柏や杜松では見どころのひとつ。
このジン・シャリで評価が大きく変わることもしばしばある。
一般には
”枝の枯れたものをジン”
”幹の枯れたものをシャリ”と呼ぶ。

IMPERIAL BONSAI in JAPAN 皇室の盆栽 (解説付き)
皇居には大道庭園と呼ばれる盆栽仕立て場があり、約９０種、６００点の盆栽があるそうです。
樹齢数１００年という名品も多く、中には樹齢550年というものまである。
皇居の盆栽の特徴は３つ。
・大型盆栽の多さ
・人工的技術を抑えた自然重視の形づくり
・樹齢１００年を超す年代物ぞろいという点。
これらが現代的盆栽とはひと味違う圧倒的な品格を醸し出す理由とされ、多くの愛好者の憧れ。
歴史ある盆栽をこうして目にすことができることをとても嬉しく思います。

Gracrful and elegant works are at the Imperial Palace in TOKYO JAPAN.
There is a bonsai works called Omichi Teien Garden at the Imperial Palace.
About 600 bonsai pieces of some 90 species of plants are cultivated there.
Among them are many hundreds-of-year-old trees. Bonsai at the Imperial Palace is characterized by three major features --
many large bonsai works, nature-oriented bonsai formations that hold down artificial techniques as much as possible, and a number of antique trees aged more than 100.
These are believed to have added overwhelming elegance to bonsai works at the palace that are different from modern bonsai works.
Many bonsai lovers long to see bonsai pieces at the palace.
